Mill’s flash addition in wake of building redesign

EXPANDING digital companies have driven a number of office deals across Leeds thanks to new business wins and growing staff numbers.

Online advertising technology provider Flashtalking and communications agency Boutique Media are moving into new office space at Marshall’s Mill in Holbeck Urban Village.

The building’s interior was re-designed in 2011 to attract small-and-medium-sized businesses. Landlord Igloo Regeneration divided the large floor plates into smaller and more flexible office spaces, which are let by property agent Creative Space Management.

Flashtalking, which started out in 2005 in a single office pod at the Media Centre, has moved six times within the Igloo estate. From one of the wings on the third floor of Marshall’s Mill, the 46-strong Leeds team has now doubled its office space to a 6,300 sq ft space on the fifth floor.

The new office space can accommodate a further 25 staff to manage the future growth of the business.

Dave Hollows, director of creative technology at Flashtalking, said: “Our location within the urban village has been integral to our growth.

“The flexible spaces here have been able to accommodate our continuous expansion, but as important is the digital infrastructure of the area which is key to our desire to remain here.”

Meanwhile Boutique Media, which was founded in 2010, has grown to 12 staff. From a shared office space under the wing of media agency MediaCom, it has moved into a 1,100 sq ft office space on the 4th floor of Marshall’s Mill.

Elsewhere, digital marketing agency Stickyeyes has moved into new headquarters in the heart of Leeds city centre.

The company has moved to 12,000 sq ft of office space across two floors at 100 Wellington Street, Leeds.

Initially hosting 117 employees, the company said the new premises offer space for further growth over the coming year.

The move was supported by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership’s Business Growth Programme, part of the Governments Regional Growth Fund.

Craig Chalmers, chief executive of Stickyeyes, said: “Digital marketing has changed dramatically in recent years and, with the emphasis very much on creativity and innovation, we needed an office space that matched both our ambition and the ambitions of our clients.”
