More than half of new farm payments paid, Agency says

The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) has announced that more than 51,000 farmers in England have received their 2016 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) money over the first two days of the payment window.

The payments made between December 1-2 account for 59 per cent of eligible claimants, are worth £660m and include a range of claim types and sizes such as those from farms that have been inspected and farmers with common land.

The Agency said it remains focused on paying 90 per cent of eligible claims by the end of December.
