More retailers coming through the Gate

New signings include shoe retailer Russell & Bromley and luxury leather goods firm Aspinal of London, which will open its flagship Northern store at the development.

The real pre-lettings figure is higher than 74 per cent, but several retailers are still in the legal process.

Victoria Gate is on track to open in October and has already signed up a flagship John Lewis store, which will be the biggest outside London.

When combined with Victoria Quarter, Hammerson said the new scheme will create the largest premium retail and leisure destination in Northern England.

Hammerson said that tenant demand remains strong, with recent lettings to Calvin Klein, GANT, Le Pain Quotidien, Neom Organics and Tommy Hilfiger.

It expects the scheme will create 1,000 retail, hospitality and customer service jobs.
