Morrisons man heads north as CEO

Angus Maciver, the well-regarded former marketing director at Morrisons, has been appointed as chief executive of McCurrach, the retail sales specialist.

The Glasgow-based company provides sales forces to leading consumer goods companies mainly calling on major grocery stores. It also provides sales forces to several financial services companies calling on independent financial advisers.

Hired by former chief executive Marc Bolland, Mr Maciver helped expand Morrisons’ market share and was responsible for its advertising campaigns featuring celebrities Richard Hammond and Denise van Outen.

He told the Yorkshire Post: “I thoroughly enjoyed working for Morrisons and feel that after three-and-a-half very successful years there that I would take the opportunity to use my varied business experience to become a CEO, albeit at a smaller business.”

Prior to Morrisons, Mr Maciver was director of insurance at Prudential and held various senior marketing roles at Walkers and PepsiCo.

The move to Glasgow represents a homecoming of sorts for Mr Maciver, who is originally from Fort William, Scotland; he studied at Glasgow University in the mid-1980s.
