Morrisons set for web launch

MORRISONS will outline plans for an online food business at annual results today, as the group finally catches up with rivals who have been offering an internet grocery service for several years.

The Bradford-based chain is expected to announce plans for a ‘dark store’ in Yorkshire which will be used to source produce for online orders. A similar store is expected to open in Greater London.

Morrisons is expected to reveal another fall in underlying sales when it announces its results for 2012.

Analysts expect it to report a fall in sales for much of the second half of 2012.
