The movement of agricultural properties a reason for optimism

What the prospects for the property sector in Yorkshire?

As I cover commercial, residential and agricultural properties, I am in the position of being able to look across the whole spectrum. Across these areas I am seeing levels of activity increasing. In particular, agricultural properties are moving well. As transport links improve, people are living in remoter climes and enjoying the cosmopolitan city and the laid-back countryside.

My most recent project for Enterprise Leicester, where I purchased 293 students apartments for around £24m on behalf of 150 private investors from the UK and overseas. I was proud of this project due to the speed I was able to transact the deals, in a couple of months.

What is your favourite building in the region and why?

The Victoria Quarter because of its wonderful architecture and the way it has evolved to produce an array of upmarket shops.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in this region, what would it be?

We need to improve the roads and infrastructure in the region. HS2 is decades away so we need to invest now in the short term to reap the benefits in the long term.

Whom do you most admire in the property industry?

Philippe Starck. His designs create a real ‘wow’ factor.
