What was your best investment?

The £250 I used to set up a website and start marketing my first consulting business. That is how my journey into entrepreneurship started.

Do you believe it’s become harder for entrepreneurs to make prudent investments since the crash of 2008?

Entrepreneurs are a different breed of people, they will still find a way to invest if they truly believe that it will give their businesses some traction.

What advice would you give to entrepreneurs who are looking to make a major investment?

Make sure the numbers stack up.

What’s the worst investment you’ve ever made?

Stocks in an oil company.

What lessons did you learn from your worst investment?

There are no short cuts to riches.

Which sectors are most likely to offer handsome returns for business investors?

It all depends on one’s attitude towards risk and your knowledge and experience of the industries you want to invest in. I’m still a strong advocate of bricks and mortar investment – if you buy them at the right price!

Are there any sectors you feel should be avoided?

I try to only invest in ethical businesses. So I won’t invest in industries that do harm to others. No matter how lucrative it is. For me, business is not just about the money.

What was the best piece of investment advice you’ve received?

Save and forget about getting rich quick.
