Peter Charlton, Editor of the Yorkshire Post, said: "The quality of the entries was higher than ever before even though numbers were slightly down because of the recession. The shortlist of companies provides glowing examples of Yorkshire companies leading the way in their markets."

Judges included representatives from DLA Piper, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Yorkshire Bank, Bradford University School of Management, Yorkshire Forward and the Bank of England. Sir Ken Morrison did not take part in the judging session. Tickets are now on sale. It takes place at The Queens hotel.
