New CEO at York housebuilder set to take up post earlier than expected

The incoming CEO at housebuilder Persimmon is expected to take up his position sooner than expected after he agreed an early departure date from his current post.

Dean Finch was announced as CEO by York-based housebuilder Persimmon on June 24. The exiting boss of transport company National Express will leave his current post at the end of the month.

Persimmon said it expects Mr Finch to be able to take up his post as Persimmon CEO earlier than originally envisaged and anticipates confirming his start date shortly.

He succeeds David Jenkinson, who announced in February 2020 that he wished to step down once a suitable successor had been identified.

Mr Finch has a commercial, financial and operational track record spanning a 30-year career in Europe and North America. He has been the CEO of National Express since 2010.

Yesterday, Persimmon said it has made an excellent start to the second half of 2020, with a 50 per cent year on year increase in average weekly private sales rates since the start of July.

The firm reported a current forward order book of £2.5bn, a 21 per cent increase on last year.
