New chief executive for Johnston Press

YORKSHIRE Post owner Johnston Press has appointed Ashley Highfield as its new chief executive.

Mr Highfield, a vice-president of Microsoft, will replace John Fry, who will stand down on October 31.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr Highfield was director of new media and technology at the BBC, where he was responsible for the launch of the BBC’s iPlayer and editor in chief of BBC Online.
