New faces at accountants to the SMEs

WINBURN Glass Norfolk, the Yorkshire accountancy firm that specialises in supporting SMEs with high-growth potential, has announced key changes to its management as the company enters its 40th year of practice.

WGN, based in Leeds, has appointed chartered accountants Helen Roberts and Jeremy Wilson as directors with the intention of promoting them to partners within the next year.

They will work closely with founding partners Melvyn Winburn and Colin Glass and tax partner Claire Turner to develop new processes and ideas to expand the firm.

“These are exciting times,” said Mr Glass, the senior partner and one of the region’s best-known business advisers.

Ms Roberts is joining WGN from FD Solutions, which provides part-time finance director services to SMEs. She is a former chief accountant at BDO, the mid-tier UK accountancy firm.

Mr Wilson has been working as a freelance finance director to four businesses, including Rebuilding Society, the Leeds-based peer-to-peer lender. He was previously FD at World Events.

WGN said Jane Tindall has stepped down after 16 years as a partner, although she will remain as a consultant. Rod Stubley, meanwhile, will retire in April after 33 years at the firm.

Mr Glass said: “I cannot praise enough the contribution that Jane and Rod have made to WGN over many years.

“We are all very sad to see them go, but understand and respect their desire to take life a little easier. All the partners have worked as a great team, but we are now looking at the next stage.”

He has no plans to retire.
