New plant the jewel in the Crown

FOR more than 200 years, Crown Paints has been a mainstay of Hull’s business community.

The company has shown its commitment to the city by opening a new distribution centre, following a £1.2m investment.

Crown Paints has developed a logistics hub at its Sculcoates Lane plant.

The facility will be staffed and managed by CEVA Logistics under a partnership agreement, which has seen CEVA create more than 70 jobs.

Joe Devitt, the managing director at Crown Paints, said: “We’re really excited about this new development. It’s great news for Hull and it underlines our commitment to the area.”

The facility will also help Crown Paints fulfil its carbon reduction commitments by cutting transport movements.

Crown Paints employs about 180 people at its Sculcoates Lane factory, which manufactures brands including Crown, Sandtex and Sadolin.

The company is owned by Hempel, which produces and sells protective coatings.
