New service takes off at engineering firm
The Leeds-based firm bought a photography drone to record progress during construction projects and investigate potential hazards in areas that are difficult to reach.
Director Matthew Ramsden recently qualified as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operator with the Civil Aviation Authority and is now able to pilot the company’s quad copter drone and take aerial photography and video footage from a legal height of up to 400 ft.

Adept also designed the building’s steel multi-span portal frame.
Mr Ramsden said: “Using the UAV provides a fast, safe and efficient method of capturing aerial images, with minimal disruption on site, and it offers a much cheaper alternative to hiring a helicopter, which has been the best alternative until now.”
