NG Bailey signs £50m contract with Ministry of Defence

Ilkley-based engineering services firm NG Bailey has today unveiled a five-year, £50m contract with Fujitsu to support its work to transform the delivery of information and communication technology across the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The contract will enable greater agility and mobility to service personnel within the MoD, as well as helping to deliver significant financial savings to the Government organisation over the next 10 years.

The new deal will see NG Bailey work with Fujitsu to provide core global connectivity services for the next five-years and the new network will underpin the delivery of current and emerging MoD services both in the UK and overseas.

Bob Dunnett, managing director of NG Bailey’s IT Services Division – the part of the business that will deliver the work, said: “This is a significant win for NG Bailey.

“It is a privilege to work alongside Fujitsu to develop and improve the MoD’s IT infrastructure. The vital role that our partnership will play puts us at the heart of the future UK defence strategy and will ultimately help the MoD defend the UK’s national interests.”

Ealier this month NG Bailey posted a healthy tripling of its operating profit to £6m for the year ended February 26 after winning £500m of new work,

Accordingly it is in a recruitment drive to cope with demand and intends to swell its workforce to more than 3,000 people by the end of 2016/17. It currently emplys 2,700 people.

In 2015, NG Bailey revealed that it was EDF’s preferred bidder in a joint venture with Balfour Beatty for the electrical package at the planned Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant.
