Nominate a good cause for support

Sheffield Chamber of Commerce is looking to find its first official charity of the year.

The business support and representative organisation is looking for nominations from local charities which it can support over a year.

Submissions have to be in by February 18 and each charity will need to be a Sheffield Chamber member. The chosen charity will be announced at the chamber’s 2011 president’s dinner in May.

The aim is for the chamber to announce a new charity of the year at each subsequent president’s dinner, giving support to a variety of good causes across the city region.

Amanda Pilgrim, head of business development at Sheffield Chamber, said: “In tough economic times the charity sector can be one of the hardest hit. At the chamber we wanted to offer our support as local charities are an important part of our membership base and we wanted to build our partnership with these organisations even further.

“The collaboration between charities and local companies will need to be as strong as ever and through this new initiative we hope to see a more businesses getting involved with worthy causes and raising funds.”
