Non-stop schedule for construction group that won £1m fit-out contract

GMI, which is also building Sellers' 3m headquarters at the Trident Business Park, in Huddersfield, for Landmark Developments, said it will be working to a tight deadline to ensure the company's production process is not halted during the move from its old premises in Chapel Hill, Huddersfield.

Sellers Engineers, which was founded in 1912, is moving from its old premises on the banks of the River Colne to make way for the new 150m Huddersfield Waterfront Quarter.

David Armitage, chairman of Sellers, which designs and manufactures finishing machines for the carpet industry, said: "GMI have done a tremendous job in building our new premises on time during the most atrocious weather.

"We are delighted with the result and look forward to an equally successful fit-out."

Jarrod Best, the managing director of the GMI Construction Group, added: "This new contract provides us with a great opportunity to continue with what we have already achieved with the design and build of Sellers' new premises.

"It is particularly heartening to be working on a UK manufacturing success story, when many manufacturers are under pressure. Sellers are world leaders in their sector and we believe their new base at Trident Business Park will equip them perfectly to tackle future challenges.

"We will need to work quickly, as it is imperative there is no break in Sellers' manufacturing process during their move. The fit-out needs to be completed by the end of March and we are confident we will meet that deadline," he said. "The main building will be completed at the beginning of March."

The construction of the new 48,000 sq ft building represents the final phase of the 27-acre Trident Business Park, where GMI Construction has already built new commercial buildings for Mercedes Benz, Audi, and The Instore Group.

Mr Best said: "We are delighted to be working on the final phase of development at Trident Business Park which is a hugely successful project within Huddersfield and the wider region.

"Once again, GMI has played a leading role in the development of a key regional regeneration project which further underlines our credentials."

More than 500 jobs have been created at Trident Business Park.
