Northern Foods to sell Dalepak for £6.4m

NORTHERN FOODS is to sell frozen food firm Dalepak for £6.4m as it shores up its pension fund.

The Leeds-based firm is offloading Dalepak Frozen Foods to the Irish Food Processors Group.

Dalepak, based in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, provides frozen food products, including meat and meat free grills, with brands such as Dalepak, Ross and Grassington's.

Northern, which supplies Marks & Spencer, Leeds-based Asda, Bradford-based Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Aldi, said 143 Dalepak staff were expected to transfer to the Irish Food Processors Group.

It said "a proportion" of the sale proceeds would be paid into its pension schemes but did not specify how much.

Dalepak made a marginal loss on sales of 23m in the year to 3 April.
