Optimism from support group

Building and support services group Carillion said it expects to benefit from any post-election increase in central and local government outsourcing, and reiterated its full-year outlook.

Carillion, which generates much of its revenue from government work and public private partnership (PPP) projects, said trading since the start of the year had been in line, with healthy new order intake.

"The group's substantial order book has increased since the end of 2009, with 95 per cent of expected revenue in 2010 now covered by the order book and probable orders," chairman Philip Rogerson said in a statement yesterday.

The operating margin at its support services business was expected to improve to around 5 per cent in 2010, he added, with revenues declining slightly.

The company said it therefore remained well positioned to make progress in 2010 in line with its expectations.
