Outstanding opportunity for women

Businesswomen from Yorkshire have until June 24 to enter the second annual Outstanding Business Women of the Year awards. Forward Ladies launched the awards last month following the success of the inaugural awards in 2010.

Sarah Dunwell, chief executive of social enterprise Create, was overall winner from nine categories last year for her work supporting vulnerable people with full-time permanent jobs, either within the business or with other local companies.

Professional women from all walks of life are invited to enter the awards by either nominating themselves, or by getting a friend or colleague to nominate them.

Etta Cohen, founder of Forward Ladies, said: “Forward Ladies embraces women from all sectors and at all stages of their professional life, and this is our way of recognising their valuable contribution in the success of the region.

“We had such tremendous support last year for our inaugural awards and were overwhelmed by the response we received, but this year we hope that they will be bigger and better.”

The Yorkshire Post is media partner for the awards.
