PA links up with digital language agency for global growth

THE Press Association, a leading multi-media news agency and content provider, has formed a strategic partnership with TranslateMedia, a digital language services agency, to expand the global outreach of PA’s media content and products.

The alliance will provide a one-stop-shop for semantically linked content generation, translation and distribution services in more than 90 languages, said PA.

Content will be delivered via a single platform allowing seamless integration with a client’s content management system.

TranslateMedia will work closely with PA helping leverage the translation agency’s network of over 6,000 translators, ensuring 24/7 coverage via its live content platform, STREAM. The organisations have already successfully collaborated, translating content into 26 languages and delivering to more than 40 countries across the world, during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“Our commitment to delivering high-quality, dynamic content stretches far beyond English speaking borders,” said Tony Watson, managing director at PA and a former Editor of the Yorkshire Post. “The innovative partnership with TranslateMedia reconfirms our pledge to promote the PA brand as a provider of multi-platform, multi-media content to a global audience.”

TranslateMedia has offices across the world at locations including London, New York, Paris, Munich, Hong Kong and Austin, Texas.

PA is part of PA Group Limited, a private company with 27 shareholders, most of whom are national and regional newspaper publishers. The biggest shareholders are Associated Newspaper Holdings Limited, News International, Trinity Mirror and United Business Media.

The group has a base in Howden, East Yorkshire, where sports content, TV listings and features are produced.
