Pace sees minimal impact of new internet TV service

TV technology group Pace said expansion by internet TV streaming companies into the UK is unlikely to have much impact on it.

US group Netflix recently announced plans to expand in the UK, offering TV programmes and films. For a monthly fee, these are streamed via the internet to devices ranging from computer consoles to mobile phones.

Amazon’s Lovefilm yesterday announced a tie-up with Disney UK giving users access to more content.

Saltaire-based Pace said: “These services add an interesting new dynamic to UK home entertainment. However, based on what we’ve seen with similar services in other markets such as the USA, we expect them to have minimal impact on our business.”

Pace added sales to the UK represent around one per cent of its business.
