Park offers chance to run your own venture

Inspire Bradford Business Park is offering a local resident the opportunity to run and eventually own a business – a modern café, situated in the heart of the development.

The business park, in Eccleshill, is owned and managed by the Newlands Community Association (NCA), which will provide the successful applicant with a competitive salary and full business support for the first 12 months, before then offering full ownership of the café, which is already fully fitted out.

Throughout the first year, the manager’s salary will gradually be reduced, with the shortfall being made up from part of the profits achieved. Then, at the end of the first year, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to buy the business from the NCA at a price that will cover the initial investment and start-up costs it incurred when fitting out the café.

People interested in the opportunity are being invited to express their interest before the December 9 deadline. Expression of interest forms can be downloaded from www.inspirebradford.com/mycafe.

When all applications are received, the NCA will form a panel that will assess each one and hold a series of interviews before offering the contract to the person they feel is best equipped to take advantage of the opportunity and make the café a success.

Tony Holdich, chief executive of the NCA, said: “This really is a fantastic opportunity for anybody who has dreamed of running their own business, but who hasn’t been able to due to financial and logistical reasons. Essentially, we are offering a highly motivated person the opportunity to take ownership of a business without having to take any of the usual financial risks.”

Due to be completed in early 2012, Inspire Bradford Business Park is being constructed on a brownfield site close to Eccleshill Community Hospital in the east of Bradford.
