Picture this to spread the word

JUST say the words “major infrastructure” project and many Britons respond by scratching their heads.

The RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) would like to change all that. RICS research found that the term ‘infrastructure’ is not understood by vast swathes of the population. In fact, less than a third (32 per cent) of those surveyed by RICS said they understood what the word means.

To help raise awareness of schemes such as the Scale Lane Bridge development in Hull, the RICS has launched its Infrastructure Photography Competition, which challenges members of the public to submit their best images of man-made physical structures such as bridges, tunnels, railways, airports, power stations and renewable energy constructions.

The deadline to enter the competition is February 19 2016. To find out more visit: www.rics.org/infrastructurephoto.
