PJD on lookout for regional energy firms

ONE of the UK’s largest specialist mechanical engineering businesses is on the acquisition trail after receiving a multi-million-pound investment.

PJD Group, based in Castle Donington, Leicestershire, said it is looking for future acquisitions in new energy generation in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Founded in 1984, PJD provides a wide range of repair, maintenance, manufacturing, upgrade and installation services. In 2010, the business merged with Grayton Engineering which boosted the group’s presence in industrial engineering markets.

It has received backing from private equity provider LDC, part of the Lloyds Banking Group,

Chief executive David Hayle said: “The drive to replace much of the energy infrastructure in the UK is expected to require over £110bn of investment over the next decade and as a business we therefore want to be at the forefront of this.

“We now have strong financial backing and a robust balance sheet which enables us to look at further acquisitions across the country, with a particular emphasis on Yorkshire & the Humber.

“The region is home to many of the country’s leading power, environmental and industrial firms.”
