Plans to transform Rotherham town centre with Forge Island scheme submitted
Regenerator, Muse Developments, has submitted an outline planning application to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for the Forge Island mixed-use destination.
Forge Island will be connected to the rest of Rotherham’s town centre via a new pedestrian bridge and also feature a new public space and car park.

Hide AdA Muse spokesperson said that the plan “will bring both a new offer and increased vibrancy to the heart of Rotherham town centre”.
If approved, construction work could begin in Autumn of next year.
Dan Needham, development director at Muse Developments, said: “We’re at the next stage on the journey to deliver an innovative and striking scheme in the heart of Rotherham that will benefit the town and the community for years to come.
“Forge Island will be a destination that will bring a family-friendly offer to the town, where people will be able to relax during their free time.

Forge Island was home to the old Tesco supermarket and is across the banks from the former magistrates’ court, both of which were bought by the council.
Muse Developments’ other projects include Wakefield’s Merchant Gate development, City Place in Chester, Liverpool’s St. Paul’s Square and Marischal Square in Aberdeen.
Muse is also currently working on two new units at Leeds’s Logic development over 56,000 sq ft.
