Premier Farnell restructures leadership team to operate better around globe

Premier Farnell announced yesterday that it is re-structuring its business and executive management team.

It will now combine its marketing and distribution businesses in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific regions to improve performance across the group.

The business will be organised globally by function to facilitate better global sharing of expertise and resources. It is also hoped the company will benefit from economies of scale and the sharing of best practice.

Led by the group’s chief executive, Laurence Bain, the new executive team includes global functional leaders for Sales and Marketing, Product and Suppliers, Supply Chain, and Technology, as well as global leaders for support functions.

There are two new members: Chris Breslin, who joins as chief product officer, and Nick Wilkins, interim global chief supply chain officer.

The current leadership structure for CPC, MCM and Akron Brass will remain in place and continue to report to the chief executive directly.

Premier Farnell said that customers and suppliers were increasingly operating on a global basis, and that the new structure would allow it to serve their needs better.

Mr Bain said he was excited to be able to take the next step on the company’s journey.

“I am excited that we are able to take the next step on our journey to support customers and suppliers globally throughout the electronics cycle from the early stages of design through to production,” he said.

“By evolving the way that we work, as one global team, Premier Farnell is well placed to accelerate the execution of our strategy to deliver profitable growth.” The company said current trading was in line with the reported performance for the first quarter, when sales per day grew 2 per cent, and said it would provide a progress update in its first-half results announcement on September 18.
