President becomes resident with global gas giant

President Engineering Group has entered a new partnership with the global leader in gas power solutions for the marine and energy markets.

Sheffield-based President has been named as a preferred supplier to Wärtsilä Gas Power Systems (GPS), which is headquartered in Finland.

The agreement came about after Bestobell Valves, part of the President group, demonstrated its technical abilities during a number of projects with Wärtsilä over the past 12 months.

President said it was also able to showcase the quality of its products and its commitment to high customer service levels while supplying cryogenic valves for Wärtsilä’s market leading LNGPac fuel system.

Bestobell’s LNG (liquefied natural gas) cryogenic valves are specifically designed for marine applications. They are fire safe and all components are able to withstand a minimum temperature of 925 degrees.

Under the new deal, Bestobell will supply valves to Wärtsilä on an ongoing basis including work on a number of major projects that Wärtsilä recently won this year.

Mark Henley, managing director of President Engineering Group, said: “It is very exciting to become a preferred supplier to Wärtsilä and it is a partnership which will bring major benefits for both parties.

“Our technical expertise and support means we can be dedicated to working closely with Wärtsilä on its latest innovative projects to ensure the company receives the most efficient valve solution for these applications.”

The contracts include supplying LNG cryogenic valves for the fifth Harvey Gulf offshore support vessel, Harvey America, which has been ordered by Harvey Gulf International Marine, as part of the company’s ‘going green’ initiative.

Bestobell has already supplied valves for the previous four vessels and the total series may run to eight vessels.

In addition, Bestobell will supply LNG cryogenic valves for two more offshore support vessels – one for Siem Offshore, which is being built at HellesØy Verft, Norway and the other project for RemØy Shipping, which will be constructed at Kleven Maritime in Norway.

These are the first orders Wärtsilä has won for its LNGPac fuel system in the Norwegian offshore supply vessel market and Bestobell will deliver the valves for both projects by June this year.

Bestobell’s valves are widely used on LNG Carriers, FLNG (Floating Production & Storage Units) and FSRUs (Floating, Storage & Re-gasification Units).

The company designs and produces valves to meet specific requirements in the marine sector and has supplied cryogenic valves to a majority of the major shipyards building LNG Carriers.
