Printer makes solvent recycling headline news

Printing specialist York Reprographic has invested more than £60,000 in a new solvent recycling machine.

The flexographic plate making solvent recovery system separates possibly harmful resins, polymers, pigments, paints and oils from the original solvent. The material is then recycled rather than entering the water chain.

The group, which is based in York, says this is part of efficiencies and a "real commitment to the environment".

Bob Hollingsworth, technical director, said: "There have been some significant benefits since we installed the new solvent recovery unit as well as saving costs and improving our green footprint we have also an improvement in the overall quality of the finished plates.
