Profits and turnover up as STG weathers the tough climate

STRATEGIC Team Group (STG) yesterday revealed that it was flourishing in the face of adversity, as it delivered a healthy rise in profits and turnover.

In the year ended March 31 2012, the Castleford-based business saw its revenue rise by 17.4 per cent to £54.6m, while profits increased by 18.5 per cent to £2.4m.

In a statement to accompany the results, STG said it was performing well in its core sectors, despite the Government’s austerity measures, slower than anticipated economic growth and higher than expected inflation.

Over the last year, STG, which trades from regional offices in Bristol, Glasgow, Stockport and its head office in Castleford, secured several lucrative framework agreements in the public and private sectors. The company recently started work on its first major care project in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, which has a total value of £4.7m.

A total of 20 new directly-employed positions were created, bringing the total number of employees to more than 220.

The firm has also established several long-term relationships with key sub contractors.

Over the year, solar photo-voltaic panels were fitted to more than 900 roofs for registered social landlords and private house-holds.

Commenting on the results, STG’s managing director, Andy Watson, said: “Strategic Team Group has weathered the tough economic climate, delivering yet another year of solid financial results.

“We have continued to grow, invest and develop in all our core business areas.

“We are well positioned for the future, with a strong order book for the coming financial year, and we are exploring the potential to expand on our existing office network, to provide clients with even greater coverage.”
