Promotion to director for finance manager

Emergency equipment specialists Ferno (UK) has appointed Margaret Merkle as finance director.

She originally joined the Bradford-based firm in August 2003 as financial controller and worked her way up to full directorship following promotions to internal auditor, finance manager and associate director.

She now has full responsibility for the company's P&L and management accounts, all budgets and banking, including cash flow reporting and financial matters to the international Ferno Group.

Street lighting firm Harvard has expanded its sales and marketing team.

Barry Bennett joins as sales manager for the North of England and Scotland and Richard Adelsberg joins as marketing executive.

Mr Bennett has more than 32 years of experience in the street lighting industry, including a role as director at Steanne Solutions and 27 years at Cheshire Council as a street lighting engineer. He will be based at Harvard's Leeds office, but will spend a large amount of time travelling throughout the North of England and Scotland to meet customers.

Mr Adelsberg joins the company following two years at Blue Chip Marketing in Manchester where he managed key accounts, including The Co-operative Food and O2.

Napoleons Casino and Restaurant in Sheffield has appointed Matt Proud as catering manager.

He previously worked as catering manager at Chesterfield FC after a stint at the Inn @ Troway.

Assuming overall responsibility for the Ecclesall Road restaurant, he will be tasked with ensuring the smooth running of the restaurant and reporting

directly to general manager

Ray Smith.

Marketing agency Turn Key has made a series of appointments and promotions across the business.

Tom O'Brien joins the PR team as account manager and Charlotte Schofield has been promoted to senior account executive. The Digital team has been boosted with the addition of Tom Brierley as junior digital designer and the marketing department has seen Deborah Stafford-Watson promoted to account director, Tess Eaton to account executive and Sean Simmonds to designer.

Sheffield University has appointed Andrew Dodman to the post of director of human resources.

Mr Dodman will take up his job and join the university's executive board at the end of March 2011, following the retirement of Rosie Valerio.

At present, he is deputy director of human resource management at the university, which he joined six years ago.

Winston Solicitors has expanded its litigation department with the appointment of specialist litigation solicitor Claire Kitchen.

Since qualifying in 2001, she has handled a varied and complex litigation set of cases, including civil fraud, minority shareholder actions, and professional negligence claims. The firm is based in Roundhay, Leeds.

The Yorkshire office of Aldermore Invoice Finance has bolstered its team with the appointment of a new regional sales executive. Robert Perrie will provide cashflow solutions to SMEs in central Leeds as well as supporting the firm's regional sales directors in business development.

After graduating from Glasgow University with an accountancy degree, Mr Perrie spent four years at Lloyds TSB's corporate banking team in Leeds as a corporate manager.

The Wensleydale Heifer, one of the Yorkshire Dales's oldest inns and boutique hotels, has appointed James Heslegrave as general manager.

He has worked at a number of organisations, including the Michelin-starred Yorke Arms at Ramsgill, near Pateley Bridge.
