Propaganda gets creative with new board member

MARKETING consultancy Propaganda has bolstered its top team by appointing Lee Bennett to its board of directors to head up the creative department.

Mr Bennett joined Leeds-based Propaganda in 2002 after graduating with a degree in design and photography from Bradford College. He moved through the ranks to head of design and now to his new position of design director.

Down Schofield Watts, a corporate finance and equity firm with offices in Leeds and Daresbury, has announced the appointment of Alistair Smith as a partner in its transaction services team. Joining from Deloitte, Mr Smith will head up the financial due diligence offering within the Yorkshire and North East market.

Meanwhile, Ripon-based Econ Engineering, which manufactures winter maintenance vehicles used by local authorities and contractors on the UK’s roads, has appointed Steve Sinnott to a key role within its sales team, with responsibility for clients in the South of England, as well as key highway maintenance and waste management accounts.

Mr Sinnott joins Econ with more than 25 years’ experience in sales and building customer relationships, in the fleet and specialised vehicles sector, including five years as sales manager at Mercedes-Benz’s commercial vehicle dealership, Intercounty Truck & Van.

Elsewhere, rural planning firm Rural Solutions, based near Skipton, has a new board member, Tom McLaren. Landowner Mr McLaren has used the services of Rural Solutions to develop a masterplan for his family’s estate in Wiltshire, gain permission to develop a listed stable block and explore ways to maximise the future potential of his rural assets. Now he has joined the board as a non-executive director. Mr McLaren has a background in international investment in the agribusiness and technology sectors.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire business Arena Group has appointed a new EDM (electronic document management) sales manager, based at its Wakefield head office.

Mike Starkings takes up his position at Arena after having previously worked as an accountant with clients such as MARS and Xerox, then as a consultant for over the last three to four years. He also has his own dance company.

Ilkley Brewery has upped its numbers to 12, with the appointment of three new members of staff. Harriet Marks becomes the brewery’s first ever brewster (female brewer), having worked in viticulture on Australian vineyards; Alexa Jennings takes the role of office manager, after having previously worked at Tax Assist Accountants as an account technician; and Claire Dunne, who previously owned a pub and worked for a number of years with Market Town Taverns, joins the business as credit controller.
