Provident Financial in Bradford appoints former Amigo Loans boss

Credit lender Provident Financial has appointed Hamish Paton as managing director of its consumer credit division (CCD), subject to regulatory approval.

The Bradford-based firm said he will take over from Chris Gillespie, who is joining H&T Group, a FTSE listed pawnbroker, having held the role since August 2017.

Mr Paton has a strong consumer finance background, having served as CEO of Amigo Holdings from July 2019 until his resignation in December 2019. Prior to this he was CEO of BrightHouse, from 2016 to 2019.

Mr Paton will join Provident Financial on September 14, with Mr Gillespie leaving on August 31.

The credit lender said that arrangements had been put in place to allow an orderly handover.
