£1m investment opens new doors for company

A door manufacturer which has appeared on television programmes such as Grand Designs is investing £1m in new machinery and creating 25 new jobs with the relocation of its manufacturing and distribution operations.

Express Bi-Folding Doors (EBFD) is more than doubling its space with the move from two sites in Garforth and one in Swillington, totalling 21,000 sq ft, to a bigger site at Millshaw Park in South Leeds.

The company has signed a 20-year lease for the 43,097 sq ft building at Millsaw Park with owner Evans Property Group.

EBFD, which was founded seven years ago, has showrooms in Garforth, Glasgow, Redhill and Romford. It hopes to be operational at Millshaw Park by September this year.

It believes that the increased production capacity will enable it to exceed its forecast £20m turnover in its next financial year.

Managing director Steve Bromberg said: “Having grown to a full-time team of 129 with four UK showrooms and a nationwide client base in a relatively short time period, we are delighted to be investing in the business with a new facility and high-tech equipment to streamline our operations.”

He added: “We are also proud that this is translating into job creation opportunities for the locality.

“Millshaw Park is an exceptionally smart and well-maintained park which creates the right impression for our customers and the immediate motorway access enables us to easily reach our southern customer base.”

Alan Syers. portfolio director at Evans Property Group, added: “The story of EBFD is an extremely positive one and it is fantastic that the company has selected Millshaw Park as the base for its new, combined operation.”

DTZ acted for Evans in securing the 20 year lease and EBFD was unrepresented.

Paul Mack, head of DTZ’s Yorkshire industrial and logistics team, said: “Occupier activity is on the up in the Yorkshire region and deals such as this highlight the demand for well-maintained stock in prime locations.”
