£3m Dunelm store gets the go-ahead

PLANS for retailer Dunelm Mill to relocate its outlet at Thorne Road Retail Park in Doncaster to a new £3m store have been granted approval.

Regeneration specialist St. Modwen has been given planning consent to deliver the new 40,000 sq ft store for Dunelm Mill at the Wheatley Hall Road site in Doncaster. Dunelm Mill expects to create new jobs as a result of the move.

Work is scheduled to start in the spring, with completion due by the end of summer.

As part of the ongoing redevelopment of the Wheatley Hall Road site, formerly occupied by Tyco Electronics, construction work has also started on a new Marston’s pub, which is due to open in six months. It is expected to create around 45 new jobs.

A Marston’s spokesman said the pub will offer “a family-friendly pub-restaurant with seating for about 180 customers” and a children’s play area.

In addition to the new Dunelm Mill store and Marston’s public house, sports facilities are being brought to the area, including a Goals Soccer Centre.
