Pure Data goes on the acquisition trail as turnover rockets

PURE Data Solutions is on the acquisition trail, said its managing director, as the firm reports a 52 per cent jump in annual turnover to £12m.

The Leeds-based IT reseller and managed services provider, which was founded in 2007, said the figure for the year to April 30, has grown from £4.1m two years ago.

MD Steve O’Brien said Pure Data Solutions, whose headquarters are at Farsley, had added almost 300 new customers during 2012-13.

He said in the last three months, the company had begun supplying almost 120 new organisations, including London-based retailer Monsoon, London Stock Exchange and timber merchant Arnold Laver, whose headquarters are in Sheffield.

He added this expansion had seen Pure Data Solutions recruit 20 new staff in the last 14 months, taking total employees to 36.

Mr O’Brien said: “It’s an outstanding tribute to the quality of our team and the very high standard of service they provide that we have continued to grow rapidly in a hugely difficult and competitive market. The reseller sector is flat overall and we’re succeeding while many of our competitors are struggling or contracting.”

He said Pure Data Solutions’ aim was to reach £20m turnover in the next two years, through rapid organic growth in its key areas of consulting, supplying, installing and support services, plus acquisitions. Mr O’Brien said: “We’re particularly looking to buy organisations specialising in technical services, professional services and support.”

He declined to disclose a profit figure, but said it has risen at a “broadly similar” rate to turnover and that any increase in profit is being reinvested in the business.
