Qualter to get harbour shipshape

BARNSLEY-based Qualter Hall has secured a significant contract to make sure Dover Harbour is ready for the Olympics, it was revealed yesterday.

The Dover Harbour Board has commissioned Qualter Hall to carry out major refurbishment works to three Ro-Ro berths in the eastern docks, at the Port of Dover.

This refurbishment will involve an intensive programme of works, as berth three must be completed in time for passengers visiting the Olympic Games.

George Orton, the managing director of Qualter Hall, said: “We are delighted to be working with Dover Harbour Board once again. Qualter Hall has previously carried out three major refurbishment works at the Port of Dover, including major modifications and the uprating of the existing Hoverspeed Fast Ferry Ro-Ro Linkspan along with the re-engineering of the passenger access bridge.”

Qualter Hall was founded in 1860 and, initially, it was a leading supplier of machinery to the deep mining industry. In recent years, it has diversified into other sectors.
