Redhall confident as reputation grows

ENGINEERING and support services firm Redhall said expansion in energy and defence has boosted its order book.

The Wakefield-based company said trading in the six months to the end of March has been in line with its expectations and ahead of last year. Its order book now stands at 130m, compared with 115m in September.

It said a landmark 30m contract to help build a new green fuel site near Hull for Vivergo Fuels reflects its "enhanced reputation".

Redhall is designing, building and installing pipe work for a new bio-ethanol plant at the existing BP Chemicals Saltend site. The site is due to be completed by the end of October.

It has also won "substantial" tankage and engineering work for Chevron over the next five years worth a total 15m. It has also won a contract to commission the new boiler park at Sellafield nuclear power plant in a deal worth 3.2m.

Executive chairman David Jackson said: "We are encouraged by our key contract win with Vivergo Fuels which reinforces our stated strategy of focusing on our core markets and competencies. This will be one of the largest bio-ethanol plants in the UK and strengthens our position in the energy market."

Redhall added the process area "remains challenging" with reduced volumes compared to the first half of 2009. "We continue to review our cost base and are reallocating resources to more productive areas for the short term," it said.
