Leeds Digital Job Fair 2.0, which will take place at the First Direct Arena on October 20, has been officially launched by sponsors.

The inaugural event, held at the same venue in February 2016, attracted more than 1,300 attendees and 35 digital and tech companies including Google, William Hill, Callcredit, Sky Betting & Gaming, Provident Financial, Sky and Lhasa Limited.

The fair is again being organised by online jobs board Herd.

Amy De-Balsi, founder of Herd, said that the fair would move to main performance area at the arena due to the level of demand from employers.

She said: “More than 70,000 people are now employed in the digital sector across Leeds city region.

“But with this number growing all the time, firms are finding it increasingly challenging to fill the hundreds of new vacancies being created.”

Speaking about the inaugral job fair held earlier this year, Emma Cheshire, CEO of Dotforge, the tech startup accelerator, said: “The first tech-focused careers fair in Leeds highlighted just how much opportunity there is in the area for coders, project managers and marketers to build an amazing career working for digital companies with national and international clients in sectors as diverse as health, fintech, gaming and betting.”

Leeds Digital Job Fair 2.0 will be supported by Leeds City Council, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds BID, First Direct Arena and Tech North.
