Return to Yorkshire Building Society for former MPC member

A FORMER member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee has rejoined the board of Yorkshire Building Society.

Kate Barker, 53, was on the board until 2001 when she became a member of the MPC.

Ms Barker has served as chief economic adviser to the CBI and authored Government reports on housing and planning.

Ed Anderson, chairman of Yorkshire Building Society, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Kate back to the board of the Society.

"Her extensive experience will be an asset to our board and I very much look forward to working with her."

Ms Barker, who was awarded a CBE for services to social housing, is also on the board of the Homes and Communities Agency.

Yorkshire Building Society is the second largest building society in the UK.
