Revenue up at Straight

RECYCLING products firm Straight said today that revenue had risen but profits dipped after a year of thee acquisitions.

The Leeds-based firm, which makes and supplies products ranging from wheelie bins to water butt, saw revenue rise 8.3 per cent to £30.66m and made a profit before tax of £1.47m, down from £1.56m.

The results for 2010 showed trade business increased across all lines and the retail business moved into operating profit, compared to a £94.000 loss the previous year.

Straight, founded in 1993 by chief executive Jonathan Straight, has ambitious plans to grow its international reach and scale.

Last year it bought Hull injection moulding firm Dyro Holdings for a total of £2.9m, taking manufacturing in-house for the first time, as well as water-saving Tapmagic and the UK business of Helesi.
