Rightmove benefits from technology

RIGHTMOVE hailed a 23 per cent surge in traffic as the UK’s seventh most visited website benefited from the roll-out of new technology in a “patchy” market.

The launch of its new Android phone app helped website hits to double in the first six months of this year.

It achieved 5.9 billion page overall impressions in the six months, meaning only Facebook, Google, eBay, YouTube, Amazon and Yahoo saw more page views.

With an iPad app for consumers due to launch in the next few weeks and price rises helping Rightmove report a 20 per cent increase in average spending by advertisers, shares in the FTSE 250 Index company jumped by eight per cent. It reported half-year revenues of £57.9m, up 23 per cent on a year ago.
