Rock's new finance chief

Nationalised bank Northern Rock appointed Jim McConville, formerly of bailed out lender Lloyds Banking Group, as its chief financial officer.

Mr McConville, a former finance director of Lloyds' Scottish Widows life insurance business, takes up his new post on April 8, Northern Rock said yesterday.

Northern Rock became the first major casualty of the credit crunch in September 2007 when a dearth of wholesale credit forced it to seek emergency funding from the Bank of England.
