Scottish luxury jeweller ROX has announced a £2m investment in two new stores in Leeds and Newcastle.

The move marks the brand’s first venture south of the border as it forges ahead with UK-wide expansion plans.

The new stores, at Trinity Leeds and Monument Mall in Newcastle, are due to open in October and will create 20 jobs in total.

Work is due to start on-site towards the end of the summer.

ROX specialises in high end diamonds, fashion jewellery and luxury goods. The company has already introduced Thrill Rooms in its flagship stores in Glasgow and Edinburgh, which have been used for private events with stars like Ms Sandi.

Kyron Keogh, the managing director of ROX, said: “Expansion into England has been on our radar for some time now; we have been waiting to find the perfect location and it just happened that two great opportunities came up in Leeds and Newcastle simultaneously.

“This is an exciting time for us, and with the support of HSBC, we are looking forward to launching our new stores and continuing to build the ROX brand across the UK.”

ROX has acquired a 1,700 sq ft corner unit at Trinity Leeds, which opened earlier this spring.

The new Leeds store will also feature an elegant champagne bar.

ROX was founded in 2002 by entrepreneurs Kyron Keogh and Grant Mitchell.

It has stores in the Argyll Arcade, Braehead and Silverburn in Glasgow; the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh and Union Square in Aberdeen.

ROX has been named Independent Retailer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards for the past two years running, and is shortlisted in the category again this year.
