Sales and profits up at Sky High

DATA collection group Sky High has achieved sales and profit growth in its latest half-year results.

The Tadcaster-based group recorded pre-tax profits for the six months ending September 30, 2012, of £289,000, compared to £153,000 during the same period last year. Group revenue was up by 60 per cent to £4,793,000, compared to £2,989,000 in 2011.

The firm’s chairman, Richard Jackson, said that the results reflect “a very strong performance in the UK” which has been underpinned by the contribution of the Count On Us business it acquired in March 2012 and “an improved market for traffic data collection services”.

Turnover in the UK for the first six months was £3,904,000, an increase of £2,030,000, over the same period last year.

Trading in Australia has been “more challenging”, said Sky High, and revenues for the period were £889,000, a decrease of £226,000 on the same period last year.

Mr Jackson said: “Whereas the market in Australia was strong last year, this year has seen a decline due to a slowdown in the Australian economy and implementation of general budget and cost reduction programmes by state governments.”

In summary, he said that the board remains positive about the prospects for the group for the remainder of the year and beyond.
