The sales heat is on for group

HEATING company Easy Heat has seen sales rise by 20 per cent over the last three months as freezing temperatures gripped the UK.

The Halifax-based firm, which employs 13 staff, said its electric water-filled radiators were bought by families as an alternative to gas.

The company, which reported a £1.15m turnover last year, is projecting a turnover of £1.75m in 2011.

David Garrity, Easy Heat managing director, said: ”With the country currently experiencing regular sub–zero temperatures, many gas boilers are failing because of the extreme weather. Research from consumer organisation Which? recently identified that nearly a third of all new boilers break within the first six months of operation so many more are clearly in danger of being affected by the ongoing severe winter.”

He added: “This, along with a rise in gas prices and limited oil supplies has meant more and more people are calling us for a non-gas heating solution to keep their homes warm without the risk of leaks or failure caused by the weather.”

The Easy Heat radiators house their own boiler and pump, which creates a mini central heating system, keeping each one independent of heating in the rest of the house.

Mr Garrity added: “As a nation, we are very reliant on gas heating options and often give little thought to how our heating works until something goes wrong and we’re left out in the cold. Winter is the time when we need our heating the most and the time when things are most likely to go wrong with gas supplies. Electric heating is an underestimated and often overlooked alternative to gas.”
