Santander seeks right formula with Driven to do Better campaign

Santander’s newly appointed executive director for retail distribution, Charlotte Hogg, stood on the bonnet of a 40ft car made from 8,000 red bricks to launch the bank’s Driven to do Better campaign.

The bank yesterday launched a new advertising campaign, which aims to convince consumers it is striving to improve its services.

The campaign includes two new television adverts promoting Santander’s new current account switcher offer and its 123 Cashback Credit Card.

The advert for the current account, which offers new customers £300 cashback to switch their main current account to Santander, features Formula One drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton working with Santander employees to build the bank’s Red Brick Formula 1 car.

The car is on display outside the bank’s London headquarters this week.

Santander, which was formed from the merger of Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley, has replaced its previous tagline ‘Together. We are Santander’.

Santander UK last month revealed that its profit after tax attributable to equity shareholders declined by 51 per cent to £413m after it set aside more cash to cover claims over the mis-selling of payment protection insurance (PPI).
