Severfield names Smiths Group man as new finance director

STEEL group Severfield-Rowen has poached Alan Dunsmore from Smiths Group as its new finance director. Mr Dunsmore will join the Thirsk-based company on March 1.

Incumbent finance director Peter Davison is retiring at the end of March and will continue with Severfield as company secretary.

Mr Dunsmore, 40, has been finance director of Smiths Detection since 2004.

He joined Smiths Group in 1995 in the Medical Division and has held various positions throughout that business.

Prior to joining Smiths, he was with Coopers and Lybrand in Glasgow, where he qualified as a chartered accountant in 1992.

Mr Davison will work alongside Mr Dunsmore as a consultant until the AGM on June 3 to ensure an orderly handover.

Mr Dunsmore will assume key directorship roles within the group including JSW Severfield Structures Ltd (India) and all operating subsidiaries.

He will also have group responsibilities in the areas of IT and Human Resources.
