Severfield's CEO takes temporary leave of absence

Severfield plc, the structural steel group, has announced that Ian Lawson, its chief executive officer, has taken a temporary leave of absence due to ill health.

In a statement, Severfield said: “John Dodds, the non-executive chairman, has agreed to act as executive chairman on an interim basis and will work with Alan Dunsmore, who has agreed to assume the role of chief executive on a similar basis. Adam Semple, current group financial controller, will temporarily take on the responsibilities of finance director.”

Commenting on the announcement, Mr Dodds said “I will work closely with Alan and the wider team during this time and in the meanwhile, on behalf of the board and everyone at Severfield, I would like to wish Ian a full and speedy recovery.”

In a trading update, Severfield said that trading during the second half of the financial year has been strong, with the group’s performance for the year ending March 31 2017 now expected to be ahead of expectations.

Cashflow performance in the second half has been similarly strong with net funds at the year end also expected to be ahead of expectations, Severfield said.
