Sheffield sees increase in office take-up

sheffield was one of only a handful of the UK’s regional markets to see an increase in city office take-up in the first half of 2010 compared with last year, according to research.

Commercial property agent Knight Frank said the city’s 86,236 sq ft take-up in quarter two took the total for the first half of this year to 154,340 sq ft – 77 per cent higher than the first half of 2010.

Sheffield was one of only four cities to witness increased take-up in the first half of 2011, compared with 2010.

Knight Frank partner Tim Bottrill said: “Judging by activity so far this year, and despite the ongoing debate about the effects of public sector cuts on office demand, 2011 is firmly on course to exceed the level of take-up seen in 2010.”
