SMEs urged to go global in Export Week

SMALL and medium-sized enterprises in Yorkshire and the Humber will be urged to target high growth export markets as part of a week of activities.

The Export Week event, taking place between May 13-17 and organised by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), will provide companies with expert advice on doing business almost anywhere in the world – particularly in high growth markets such as Brazil, Russia, India and China. Events are taking place in Leeds, Wakefield, the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham and Hull.

Mark Robson, UKTI regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “There is a wealth of opportunities in high growth markets such as Brazil, Russia, India and China, and others such as Colombia, Indonesia and Qatar.

“Increasing numbers of UK companies are prospering by exporting to these markets, but we know that many businesses would benefit from expert advice and support to help them make the first move.”

He said the programme of events is designed “to help local businesses tap into the opportunities that are out there and get on the fast track to success”.
